Energy Habits To Jump Start Your Life

When we are full energy there seems to be nothing life can throw at us that we can’t handle.  Energy affects our body, mind and spirit.  Your body gets energy from the foods you eat.  You need balanced nutrition and healthy food to fuel your body to its’ best.  Once you have your body healthy it is time to energize your mental and emotional needs.

Feel like you are running on empty?  Try these energy boosting tips!

Energy Boosting Habits:

Connect With Nature –  Nature has a way of refocusing and refreshing.  Many of us spend most of our day indoors at school or work.  Getting out into nature and seeing blooming spring flowers, feeling the wind on our face and being in the sunshine can rejuvenate and expand our perspective.  Everything does not revolve around your desk or your tasks.  The seasons will continue.  If you are lucky enough to have a window by your desk you can put one of those bird feeders outside your window and be renewed by the sounds of chirping.  Many sports take place outside like golf or soccer.  You can reconnect with nature if you can pause your competitive spirit long enough to enjoy your surroundings.

Exercise to Music – Music can be uplifting.  Put on whatever kind of music speaks to you.  Music played during exercise has been shown to increase energy levels, improve mood and delay fatigue.

Get Fragrance In Your Environment – The scents of peppermint and lemon are energizing.  Smells trigger memories.  Having a pleasing aroma has been shown to increase productivity.  Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute researchers found that people who work in pleasantly scented areas performed 25% better than those in unscented areas.

Essential oils: boost mood, improve sleep, kill bacteria, kill viruses, lessen anxiety, reduce headaches and reduce inflammation.

Do What You Love – What do you have a natural talent for?  What do you love to do?  What would you do for free?  These are the things that will give you energy.  Identify these activities and go for it.  For me it is playing with children.  Seeing the world through the eyes of a 4 year old gives me great joy and energy.  So I definitely need kids in my life.  Figure out what works for you and get it in your life.

Good Posture Sitting up straight increases your oxygen intake.  Your body and brain need oxygen to function.  An upright posture will help you take in more oxygen.

Live In The Present – Make the most of this day.  Don’t waste time and energy regretting the past or worrying about the future.  Albert Einstein said “I never think of the future.  It comes soon enough.”

Get Support – Find the people that make you better and spend as much time with them as possible.  We all need a support group that we connect with frequently that helps us when we need help and supports with love and encouragement.  People with a good support system are less likely to succumb to stress and depression.

Hopefully one or two of these habits can help you feel energetic every day of your life:)
